All over the place, but you won't want to miss a thing 🧡🦪

Burning for crypto, a select Crypto Dinner, hunting for Pearls, rocking our next Crypto Drinks with Superteam NL, welcoming Alexey Pertsev as a Speaker and some Common S3nse.

“We’re still the kewl kids, Greg!”

As I was leaving a fintech and payments meetup, Greg looked at me, confused, why did I look so happy? “Don’t worry,” I shouted back, “we’re still the kewl kids, Greg!”. Even my Dutch Uber driver, paid in dirty fiat noticed. “You’re beaming” he said. And he was right. Because somewhere between the fireside chat on agentic payments and the polite dismissal of crypto “not on our roadmap” it hit me: we’re still early, not wrong.

Invigorating that same old fire that’s been burning in me since 2017, because I know that what we have to offer is better. Instant. Cross-border. Permissionless. Censorship-resistant internet money. Peer-to-peer, electronic cash and I don’t think we’ll need to convince AI agents about crypto. They’ll just use it.

There were a few sympathetic suits in the crowd, with a hint of nostalgia: “I was a libertarian once.” -“I’m with you on the ideals.” - which somehow drifted into “We need to Make Europe Great Again.” We laughed about Margaret Thatcher rolling in her grave as the UK just banned cigarette sales for anyone born after 2008.

Dystopian daddy state. Makes me want to pick up smoking again, for the principle of it. 🚬

A Delicious Private New Format

On that note, apply for a special night.

Our select Crypto Dinner is happening on May 12th at Herengracht Cafe. An intimate evening to step away from the noise and actually connect with the people building, thinking, and arguing about where this space is going (and we love to argue).

Hunting for Pearls!🦪

We wanted a cosy place to feature our builders.

That’s why we are opening up submissions for a curated showcase (don’t be shy, just apply). Welcoming projects, ideas, and builders working across privacy, security, decentralization, and freedom tech.

Whether you’re shipping a product, exploring an early idea, or building quietly in the trenches, we want to see what you’re working on. 👀

Selected submissions may be featured on the Common S3nse website, highlighted during the event, or considered for Otter Tank, the hackathon, and other opportunities.

Not all irritations become pearls, but the right ones do.”

IRL meetups is where the magic happens ✨

Special thanks to our meetup partners for their support:

  • 🎖Edge, get Edge Wallet to manage all of your crypto assets. (non custodial, privacy focused, they are awesome)

  • 🎖Cyber Capital is Europe’s oldest fundamental cryptocurrency based fund with a 9-year track record. (tell them I sent you)

I know this newsletter was a bit all over the place, little nuggets here and there, events in non-chronological order (I like to test you), bracketed side-comments, and yes, a not-so-subtle love declaration for Thatcher. You see where I’m going with this.

Back to Common S3nse.

At its core, this is what I care about. What I keep coming back to. My ikigai, my passion: advocating for the principles that actually matter - privacy, security, and sovereignty ✊

Shared with all of you… who are somehow still reading.

The Common S3nse that says that censorship resistant, permissionless internet money should exist. That privacy should be default. That security shouldn’t be optional. Fiat is a scam and taxation is theft. I’m not asking for too much, right?

If you’re my people, help us build it.

This September in Amsterdam:

Plus the hackathon, let’s not forget the hackathon.

Same energy. Same fire. Still early. Also not a cult.
